Man, no sleep for me tonight! working from 2-4am on scheduled maintenance at work, then possibly having a 2hr lie down before off to the office!
Woop Woop Woop! Managed to complete and push up a big task today! It’s taken me a couple of days to do it because I had to learn how the API was written and structured, as well as try learn pretty complex Scala code. But got it working, and pushed it up! Man it feels so fucking good to push up code to a Pull Request. Even if it comes back to you for changes before being merged, it feels good.
Currently working on an SSH puppet module, but getting pretty lonely! Miss the buzz of the office. Anyone fancy a chat? :D
My poor laptop…
I’m remotely connected to a few servers at work and now I’m installing 3 virtual machines on my laptop, from scratch. The poor thing isn’t happy :( I need to find the time to implement a network system so I can work from my desktop when I am at home…
Today we started creating the main algorithm for our next feature. Well, we started and prepared it Monday night, but by the time we got around to start coding it, we were just so worn out that we didn’t get much done, so today we started again, and managed to basically create it all! Man it’s a pretty complex algorithm, and it’s written in Scala, a language that two out of 3 of us don’t have much experience in, well I have none :P We pretty much got it all done and god it feels so good to actually be able to follow and contribute to such such a complex algorithm in a language you don’t know! :) One of the best learning periods I have ever had!
Time to get some sleep ready for tomorrow’s hack day at work! First time we’re trying it and pretty excited to see how it goes!
I am looking to start something social. Like a programming course/tutorial, or just socially programming, possibly with livestreaming/videoing of my coding.
Basically, I haven’t done much coding in a while due to my job and I NEED to get back in to it. Do I am taking suggestions, ideas on either what I should do, what you want me to see, if you think it’s even worth it, if you’d follow/watch and what you think I could do it make it more appealing to others.
the idea is just a concept at the moment, but one I wish to take forward sooner rather than later.
I’m so sorry I haven’t updated or posted anything for a while. Job applications/interviews have really started taking up my time.
I’m not sure how many of you actually follow me for the content, but if you do and you were actually interested in the Bukkit plugin I was doing, please, please, please tell me and I will do everything I can to keep on top of the posts.
I have just finished a 3 day super-intensive 1 to 1 programming course on C++ and will be starting an intern-ship learning Ruby for 2 days a week next week. So my time will be taken up but if I know there is at least 1 person interested in the stuff I post, I promise to continue.
Thanks.
P.s. I am also looking to get a personal site up and running so I can have a central hub for the work I’m going to be doing and might start tutorials as a regular thing on there. Not sure yet.
